Exercise strengthens our muscles, lubricates our joints and creates more efficient biomechanics movements.
Here are a few things to consider when starting to exercise. Start slow, and controlled. It is very common that people will start doing to much to quickly which does not allow there body to adapt. When this happens, it opens up our bodies for extreme muscle soreness and increases our likelihood of having injury. Take it slow and be patient and do not be afraid to have someone who knows how to exercise guide you and help you.
A good place to start is by cycling or swimming. Most chiropractors and physiotherapists in Calgary are very experienced in the biomechanics of the body and would agree that low impact exercises are very healthy and are a good place to start when beginning to exercise. Swimming and cycling are to very effective cardiovascular exercises that are also very low impact. Cycling takes a lot of stress of the knees and focuses primarily on cardiovascular strengthening. Swimming also takes a lot of the impactful mechanical stress off your body. It elongates muscle and provides a good cardiovascular workout.
